Magical walk in the Bois de Païolive forest
You get up smiling, happy about the day to come with your grandchildren.
Your husband arrives with croissants. You can wake Louise and Jules and sit down to eat.
The flasks are full and the sandwiches ready. You’ve even thought to bring the sweets they love so much.
You park your car in the Parking du Lion car park and head for the entrance to the Bois de Païolive forest, one of the most unusual sights in the Ardèche.
For an hour, you walk round the natural labyrinth of the forest, with its peculiar, bewitching and enigmatic shapes.
The children let their imagination run wild, here seeing an elephant, there a bear and sometimes even characters from their favourite stories.
A gourmet picnic break in the shade of holm oaks. The sweets at the end of the meal make two people happy.
You resume your walk amidst this mysterious plant and rock chaos and get back to your car, which is waiting right there for you.
Back at La Plage Fleurie, you put down your ruck sack, slip on your swimming costumes and head for the water park, a towel under your arm.
The inflatable play facilities and water slides will soon hold no secrets for Louise and Jules.
Time to go back for a lovely shower and make the apéritif snacks: cherry tomatoes, crisps, home-made guacamole and iced-tea for everyone.
Final surprise of the day, Grandad has left to get takeaway pizzas at the restaurant.
